Eric Lafone (F 64-67) has sent in the following regarding his brother
A. G. (Alexander - ‘Alec’) Lafone (FS 44-49).
“I am passing on the sad news that my brother Alec Lafone passed away on February 26th aged 94 at his home in West Horsley, Surrey. He was a member of the 1st XV and went on to play for Harlequins in the pre-professional era. He subsequently studied at St Mary's Medical School and was awarded a 1st class Honours degree as a Bachelor of Medicine. He became a director of the family-owned Butlers Wharfing business, close to Tower Bridge in London. He also held a directorship with Butterfield Harvey Distribution from 1972 to 1975, becoming the distribution manager for Glaxo Pharmaceuticals UK from 1975 to 1993. He later became the President of the Freight Transport Association before his retirement in 1993. He was also a Fellow of the Zoological Society and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport. He is survived by his wife Audrey and daughters Nicola and Gayle.”
